Sam the Princess
Ha!
Michael left today on a 3 day business trip. We were at the park when the cab came to get him. When I got home, I heard a strange noise. It was coming from the bathroom. I went in and tried to find it. It sounded like a machine was going off behind the shower wall. I felt the wall, looked up and down and started to get annoyed that there was something wrong with our shower and I was going to have to deal with it while he was gone.
Then I saw the culprit. An electric toothbrush left on on the shower rack. I turned it off and the noise stopped. I laughed pretty hard and wondered how Michael didn't hear the noise when he left.
Then I saw his note; "Strange noise from shower. Plumber guy to call is on your computer screen." So I dropped him an email telling him what it was. His response? Ha!
Errands
Yesterday, after the park outing, the kids and I ran some errands. We went to the Post Office, the dry cleaner and the supermarket. Someone at the supermarket asked while looking at the shopping cart full of kids...Are you a day care?
That night, Parker was telling Daddy about his day. He said, we went to the park and the post office, the clean dryer and the supermarket.
Three out of four ain't bad.
Oh, and by the way, it was Ted's birthday yesterday. We had a cupcake for him with a #3 candle. He was pretty stoked.

San Pablo Park
When I lived in Berkeley, I didn't really like it. (Too many crazy berkeley people and the drivers were terrible.) But now that I see all the amazing parks they have, I want to move back. Ebba hooked me up with this one yesterday and we had to return today for more fun. Lion joined us today. Parker has really started to do some imaginary play stuff with Ted and Lion and since it usually has nothing to do with Numbers, I'm encouraging it. Even if it means dragging them around town.
When we first got there, we went to the bathroom for Parker. He didn't ask to go, but I knew he would soon, and since the bathrooms were a bit far away, we just went first. After about 10 minutes of being back at the park, Parker said, "I need to go poop!". The girls were playing across the playground and it would have taken us 15 mintues to round them up and walk to the bathroom. I didn't want to chance it, so I put a diaper on Parker and told him he could go. He looked at me like I was crazy. And then told me he didn't have to go anymore. I said, "OK", but left the diaper on. A few moments later, he said he had to go and I told him he was wearing a diaper and he could go. So he did. I felt really bad about the whole thing and surely set him back weeks in his potty training. I really need to carry a portable potty with me to avoid that situation again.

At one point when I was changing Miranda (she pooped three times in an hour), Elizabeth started up the ladder to the slide. The ladder is not intended for 17 month olds, but apparenly Elizabeth didn't read the sign.) She made it to the top and was very pleased. She tried it again when I was a bit closer.

Albany Parks
The city of Albany sure does have some nice parks. I joined Ebba and her gals at another one this morning. A small little tot lot. I was worried Parker would be bored, but he had a great time since Ted came along. The camera got full before I could take shots of Miranda sitting with Ebba, Elizabeth feeding Fiona, and Allison walking.
First we did some sliding.

Then some swinging.

We played in the sand.

And then had a snack.

There's a nightmare in my closet.
Last night, I pulled a couple unread books from the shelf to read to Parker. One was There's a nightmare in my closet. I can't remember where we got it, but it appeared to have the qualities of a good nighttime book: Short and without numbers. So, I read it to him once. The nightmares were pretty scary, but Parker didn't seem to notice. In fact, he didn't say much at all about the book.
The next morning we were playing with the kids upstairs in the morning. Parker asked Daddy to read him the nightmare book. Daddy had never seen the book before, but started to read it to him. Parker then said, "You skipped the part about the shooting it." Dad said, looking back in the book, "No, I didn't skip any parts." Parker insisted. So Daddy looked back again. Sure enough he had skipped a page.
The kid saw the book one time. I can't even remember my own birthday sometimes, but he memorizes complete books in one reading. Jeez.

My mom would be proud.
When I was over at Ebba's house the other day, we were driving back from the park. She was ahead of me, but pulled over to the side when we got on her street. I thought she was going to tell me about how I should park in her driveway. But at that exact moment, I saw this big pile of junk that someone that someone was throwing away and there were they two cute little chairs on the heap. I pulled over and rolled down my window to tell Ebba about them. I had barely opened my mouth when she said through her rolled down window, "Hell yeah, we are getting those chairs." She parked and promptly walked down the hill back to the heap to retrieve the chairs.
I was quite impressed with how well we were in sync. I like that Ebba. Oh, and I like those chairs.
