Last Meet as 8 year old
Parker swam his last meet as an 8 year old on Saturday. He only had two events because it was a meet for A and B swimmers only and these were the only events they had on Saturday that he had an A time for. An A time means he is fast. I was doubtful he would beat his times since they were pretty fast already, but he did, on both. He swam a 25 free in 17.53 seconds and a 25 back in 21.78. He didn't win any ribbons, but he was very happy he got PRs (Personal Records). He came in 11th on the 25 free which is damn good considering he was swimming with all the fast little kids in the Bay Area.
He wasn't keen on the swim meet that day and in fact, we scratched his Sunday events (25 Fly and 50 Free) which he also qualified for because he didn't want to spend all day at a swim meet (smart boy). I told him that he didn't have to be on a swim team and if he wanted to stop, he could. I told him it was totally fine and we wouldn't be upset or anything. It was up to him. He didn't say anything. So I dropped it. I think with Parker, like many little kids, he likes competing, doing well, having bragging rights, but don't like all the work that comes along with it. Actually, come to think of it, many adults feel the same way. Who could blame him?
