Miss Popular

Now Elizabeth is the popular one.

She had three playdates this week and one scheduled for next week since it couldn't fit in this week.

One of them was with a neighbor up the block. 5 houses away.  That is the kind of playdate I like.

Baby Names

When the kids were born, Elizabeth was the only kid with a name in the top 100.

I think she was about 6th.

Now...

Elizabeth is 41st
Parker is 61st
Miranda is no where to be found...

Sexy Lady

I took Parker and a pal to the batting cages today.  On the way home, they were all singing the very trendy korean gap Gangham Style song which has the lyrics "Sexy Lady" in it.

I told them I didn't think they should sing words they didn't understand and asked them if they knew what sexy was.

Owen, after saying it was hard to explain, said it was someone who danced around.

Miranda said it was someone who was sleeping.

Parker said it was someone who lifted her shirt up so people could see her belly buttom.

Elizabeth just said it was a "hot lady" but when I asked what kind of hot, she said, "You know, like sweaty."

I wouldn't tell them what it meant and they all kept singing it.

Desks and Assumptions

A little over a year ago, I bought these cute little school house desks from a twin mom. I thought they were adorable and the girls would love them.

I was wrong. They used them a little bit, but not much and with the art table in the play room and little desks in their room, they were just taking up space.  So I posted them on Craigslist and someone contacted me wanting them for their 3 year old grand daughters.  The person was named Bernie Walford and I immediately got the image of this older, slightly grumpy grey haired white man.  So when I scheduled a time for him to come get the desks, I kept a look out so I could go out to meet him on the street.  So when a truck drove up, I went down.

Boy was I surprised when a younger looking Asian woman came out of the truck.  She introduced herself as Bernie and was smitten with the desks.  She had her mother with her, which means that the older one had great grand daughters.

The whole thing was strange, but the desks are gone for essentially the same price I paid over a year ago.

Book of Mormon

Amy and I saw it Friday. It was funny and offensive but not nearly as good as everyone says. Not sure what I was expecting but I think I thought I would be laughing hysterically the whole time. And I was not. Despite all the swearing. Which I appreciated.

Right turn only maze

Parker showing goobery lady how to do right turn only maze that she said was impossible.

They still like playing with boxes.

Skate rats

At their request, I took the kids to the skating rink today since they are off school all week. They all enjoyed it and showed improvement from the last time. Elizabeth is getting really good. Miranda put her skates back on when we got home. And Parker wants to try inline next time.

Playland not at the beach

Parker went to a party last night at this place that has all the old arcade games from playland, a long gone beach amusement park in San Francisco. It was very strange but all the boys liked the old timee pin ball games, giant laughing clowns, and magic show.

Still digging wii

The kids are still into the Wii.  This picture is of a playdate Parker had with his friend Alex. The neighbors came over with their playdate Jeff.  And Miranda just likes to hang out where everyone else is.

Popularity

Not only is Parker smart and good looking, but apparently he's quite popular as well. This weekend, he had four playdates.  Four kids asking to play with Parker. Owen S and Owen K on Saturday and Sunday and Alex W and Alex A on Sunday and Monday.   It was his Owen and Alex weekend.

The hills are alive!

Took the girls to see the Sound of Music tonight. They seemed to really enjoy it and only got bored at the slow songs. Elizabeth also didn't like all the kissing.  We were in the front row which was a little close for me, but great for them to see everything.

I was most amused at Elizabeth's seat. I guess some of them are named after donors.  Here is hers.

Musicals

I'm on a little musical kick right now.

I took Miranda to see the Lion King this past Sunday.  This Sunday the girls and I are seeing the Sound of Music at the Berkeley Playhouse.  On my birthday, I'm going to see the Book of Mormon with Amy in LA.  And in December, I'm going to see a musical by high school friend.

The Lion King, which I don't really like because it is Disney and kinda lame, was actually fantastic in the theatre.  The puppets were amazing.  We took a pal, Charlie, and both girls were completely engaged the whole time. I got them front row seats in the loge so they could actually see everything.

It's really too bad I can't sing since I think a life in musicals would be my next career.

Sleep.

Elizabeth was having a rough time tonight and I quickly determined she was just tired.

I took her up to my bed about 6:30 and read her a book and then lay down with her.

We both fell asleep very quickly.

Now I'm awake at 11:30 and can't get back to sleep.

Half

For those of you not on facebook:

Me: Miranda, are there any donuts left?

Miranda: Yes, there is a half of one.  A big half.

Parker (from the other room): There is no such thing as a big half.
