Birthday Weekend

In addition to his fabulous presents from his family, Michael (and I!) also got an overnight stay in Calistoga without the kids.  Jenna came just after noon and hung out with them until 4ish and then she drove them to Ebba's who watched them until we picked them up today.  It's so great to have babysitters and friends who will make things like this possible.

We drove up to Calistoga stopping at Gotts Roadside which is a burger joint.  There was a long line, but there always is and I convinced Michael it was worth it. I don't think he agreed until after the meal.  Then we drove the remaining 10 minutes until we arrived at Indian Springs Spa.  After a quick check in, we hit the pool which was crowded. We lucked out with chairs though.  We hung out there for a while, and then I went off to get a massage while Michael returned to the room for a nap that never quite happened.  After I got back, we decided on a stroll through to town for dinner and drinks.   We went to my favorite mexican place there and it did not disappoint.  We even got free flan due to a delay with one of michael's drinks.  We hit the pool again after dinner and it was lovely.  We watched a bit of tv and then crashed.

Here he is enjoying his watch and beer.

The next morning, I woke up before Michael so I went to the pool early where I was the only one there. Even by the time Michael arrived, we were still alone.  We stayed there about an hour but then got hungry so we packed our bags and headed out, stopping at The Model Bakery in St. Helena for pastries.  We also made a stop at Dean and Delucca.  Both Yum.  Then we drove back to Ebba's where we found the kids, except Elizabeth, in good spirits.  They all had fun, but seemed tired.

An empty pool.

Me, alone at the pool.

Sticky Bun!
