Reading
Parker isn't much of a reader. He never really has been. Don't get me wrong, he's a good reader, but he just doesn't really enjoy it. He does his reading for homework but beyond that, he'd rather do anything but read.
Then yesterday, he came home holding a Magic Treehouse book that he read about a year ago and was reading it. He asked to read it in the car, before his piano lesson, on the way to swim team practice, while we waiting for practice to start, and on the way home where he finished the book.
It was strange to see him like this and I wondered what changed. When I asked him, he said, "Well, you know how we listened to that book on tape in the car the other day (I got some Magic treehouse books on tape)...well, I thought it would be fun to read it right after hearing it. I'm going to do it for the next one and next one too!
I'm not much of a reader, but Michael and Amy are, so I was hoping the would be too. Perhaps nature is finally catching up with nurture on this one...
