How much is that kitty in the window?

The SFSPCA puts together an adoption window display at x-mas time at the Macy's in Union Square. Since Miranda loves animals so much, I thought this would be a great outing. I told my twin mom friends about it and two were crazy enough to join me. We took Bart over to the city, which is an adventure on its own. The other moms brought strollers, but I made my kids walk. Standing on the platform waiting for the train without the stroller was a little nerve wracking, but otherwise, they (and I) did great.

Peggy's girls were dressed identical in ridiculously cute x-mas outfits. Mine were in similar outfits and Monika's girls looked like normal little kids. We were quite a scene. People were stopping to stare at us everywhere. On the train, outside the station, in Union Square. Everywhere. Some Japanese tourists even asked to take Sophia and Juliana's picture.

Our first stop was the Macy window where my girls were in Heaven. Despite the fact that it was not kitten season (the volunteer said, "it's always kitten season", which I didn't tell her was not in fact true), they had several kittens. Miranda was so happy to see them as I had been prepping her for this trip for the last day or so ("Nana gonna go Choo Choo Train, See Big Kitty!") Many people were stopping to look at our kids looking at the kittens. Someone even gave them a donation saying, "It was well worth it to see the kids so happy."

Then we walked up one block to union square to see the big x-mas tree. We ran around there for a bit, had a snack, took more photos and then headed home. Elizabeth was getting tired, but they were real troopers and with the exception of a couple times when I carried them across some streets, they walked the whole way.

On the way back on the train, Miranda kept putting her mouth on the side of the bart seat. This old lady kept motioning to me to tell me about it, making a face each time as if to say, "How horrible you let your child do this." I didn't tell her the same child was just eating crackers and grapes from the ground at Union Square.

All in all, a good trip and if I can muster up the energy to do it again this season I will.
