Parker's Birthday
Yesterday was Parker's birthday. He's been talking about turning 4 for months and by the time his birthday had arrived, I think he was just overwhelmed. He was under the weather in the morning and we thought that he might not even make it to his own party. But then after his early nap, he was much better.
In the morning, we opened presents from the grandma's, aunt and parents. He really liked the gearation thing I got him as well as the books Amy and Grandma Judy gave, demanding that we read Pickles the Fire Cat and Strega Nona immediately.
When he saw the train set from Grammy and Ginny, it was all over. Unfortunately, it wasn't the kind of set that he could do on his own. Aunt Lori was there to help him and he was pretty damn happy about that.
Elizabeth didn't understand why none of the presents were for her. Unlike Parker who had no interest in the unwrapping of the presents or even the presents themselves at first, Elizabeth totally "got it" and wanted to unwrap them all while asking, "Where's Biza's present?" Luckily, Parker's lack of passion meant Elizabeth could help and she seemed happy again.
We had a bouncy house delivered in the morning too, just for Parker, but since he was not feeling well, he didn't really care too much. A couple friends brought their kids over to use it since we were just hanging out, but they left shortly after it started raining. Thank god I didn't have an outside party for him.
After naps, we loaded everyone up and went to the gymnastics studio where his party was held. I went with Lori and Parker and Michael brought the girls. Parked seemed fine by then and really enjoyed his party. All the other kids did too which made me happy. Elizabeth and Miranda had a great time and thank god we asked Jenna to come watch them so Michael and I could concentrate on Parker and the party. Man, she earned her keep that day.
After all the playing, we had some good eats, digusting blue cupcakes and went home in the rain. A good day.
