Parker Draws!
Almost every day, Parker comes home from preschool with some project. It's usually something he painted or glued or cut or made. I get the sense he isn't too interested in projects and does them because they are required but doesn't put a lot of thought into them. His glue is usually everywhere, the paint is almost nowhere and stuff is stuck on sort of whereever.
Until today. They came home with a bulb that was planted in some rocks. It came in a little cup that was in a cup holder thing (that had random crap glued onto it (numbers of course). And with it was this piece of paper that said, "this white paper bulb was planted with love by:" and then it was blank for the kid to fill in.
Because writing Parker's name is too boring for him now, he did this:
Then on the back he drew this:
I was so happy to see a something he did that didn't have numbers on it, I explained, "Oh Parker this is so great. Did you draw these people yourself?" "Yes Mommy." "Did anyone help you?" "No Mommy." And before I looked at the letters below, I said, "Who are these people?" And then I 'read' the words. It was Elizabeth and Miranda! (which he confirmed) (Writing their names correctly is too boring too, I guess.) Now sure, the people have no arms and look slightly boxy, but I think this is the first time I have seen him draw people of any kind. I was damn impressed and he was quite proud.
