Pics from New York

Natural History Museum

That place is huge. We got lost several times on different floors. Two rooms looked quite familar: the whale room and the gem and mineral room. Each had some added high tech stuff, but were generally the same as I remember.

Ever since I went to New York with an ex-boyfriend, I had wanted to ride around in Central Park in a horse draw carriage like a real tourist. So we did. So there.

We spent much of our time in New York figuring out where and what to eat. We had Greek, Cuban, Chinese, NY Deli, and Indian. Everything except the unfortunate times square meal was delicious. I think the dim sum was the best. We waited about 45 minutes with what seemed like hundreds of other people in China Town. People were streaming in and out and when it was our turn, we went up this huge escalator to an enormous room filled the brim with tables and people. Food came fast and if it didn't come fast enough, it was ok at this place to hunt down the carts that you wanted and ask for any items. We ended up sharing a table with 6 people (from San Francisco) which was a bummer at first, but when they started telling us about all this strange dim sum that none of us had tried before, we felt lucky to have been educated. I ate a lot of shrimp and was very happy about it.

We saw all three of our shows (Billy Elliot, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Catch me if you can) in times square or close to it. That place is a mad house. Hard to just walk down the street. We tried to avoid it as much as possible.

We made our own tour bus by getting a metro card that allowed us to get on and off the buses and subway whenever we wanted. So after dim sum, we just hopped on a bus and got off at battery park. Here is me with the tiny statue of liberty.
