Tonight

After dinner, Parker went up to his room (our room) to play some music. I could hear him singing along to it. But what I didn't know was that he was also dancing around the room. I joined him for a bit and we rocked out together. Until a slow song came on. He said he liked 14 (the track of the slow song.) I'm not sure if I do like 14. It's a song that leaves Michael and me confused.

I gave my love a cherry that had no stone.
I gave my love a chicken that had no bone.
I gave my love a story that had no end.
I gave my love a baby with no cry-en.

Then the woman asks (in the same four verses) how this is possible and he responds...

A cherry that is blooming has no stone.
A chicken when it's pipping has no bone.
The story that I love you has no end.
A baby that is sleeping has no cry-en.

Now, this guy obviously hasn't met our babies, who for the last two nights have decided that crying out while they are sleeping is fun.

And what is up with "pipping"? The dictionary says 'pip' is to crack or break through a hole like a young bird. Does this mean that baby birds have no bones? Really? How the hell is that possible? They would be all wiggly (like the Kliban cartoon) if that were the case, wouldn't they be?

Anyway...Parker read me some books and then went to sleep.

And Elizabeth just woke up cry-en...so there.

Until tomorrow...
