Weekend Non Adventures

This weekend, we had no plans. No birthday parties. No get-togethers. No activities. Michael and I thought it would be nice to go to the pumpkin patch that we all so enjoyed last year. So we headed on on Saturday after a leisurely morning. After a few minutes on the freeway, it came to a complete halt. A bit odd for a Saturday morning. So we turned on the news and sure enough the entire freeway was shut down. Both directions about 2 miles ahead of us. We got off the freeway, along with everyone else and rather than look for something else to do, I tried to take side streets back to the freeway after the problem. Apparently everyone else had the same brilliant idea. So when we saw Target, we decided to make that our adventure. I got some bras, the kids got robes (they had all been sharing Parker's robe he got from Betsy 3 years ago) and then we went to the play area where Parker practically coughed up a lung and we had to leave. After a quick bite, we went home.

So we tried again today. This time we made it to the patch but even though they said they were open, they weren't quite ready. Sure there were some pumpkins out, but none of the "fun" stuff. And most of the pumpkins were in these big bins rather than spread out on the ground. It was a real dud.

So we left and went to the always popular zoo. Where we rode the merry go round (zebra for Eli, Horse for Miranda, and Panda for Parker), did the train and Dad and Parker hit the roller coaster. Then we all did the sky ride, which freaked Michael out completely even though he only had Miranda and I had Eli and Parker.

When we got home, I put the girls down for naps and then took Parker to the local school to ride his tricycle and bike. He was up so late last night we wanted to keep him up from naps today. He really is good at riding his tricycle now, but is still having trouble with the balance bike. There were some young thugs at the school riding their miniature motorcycle dangerously close to us even though we were the only other ones there so we left.

The rest of the day was spent building with blocks, taking naps (mine), and cleaning up. Then we waited for the nightly scream fest to start. Miranda didn't disappoint.
