Miranda

Tonight just before bedtime, Michael and I found ourselves in the kids' room with Miranda. Elizabeth and Parker, who are now best friends, were being mean to Miranda so we told her to walk away from them.

Miranda then started telling us (me? Michael?) that she didn't want Elizabeth to get up so much at night. When asked why, she couldn't really explain, but she was adamant that we find a way to keep it "hard to open the door for Elizabeth". She said we needed to find something to "fix it". She then said, "Hold on, I'll go look for something." She came back with two wooden knives that go with the play kitchen and one other utensil. She banged on the doorknob, whacked at it, sawed it, rubbed it and then took a look. Not quite good enough and went searching for something else.

This went on for quite a while and Michael and I just sat there smiling at her, amused by her seriousness and concern over Elizabeth's troublesome night time habit (which doesn't really exist.) She was so sweet and articulate and purposeful.

I really like this new Miranda (the one that isn't holding poop in all the time). She is a real pleasure to hang out with and I hope to get to know her better.
