Time is not on my side. No it ain't.
A month ago at the zoo:
Parker: Can we go to the rides?
Mommy: No, they are not open yet.
Parker: When do they open?
Mommy: At 11.
Parker: when is that?
Mommy (at 11:00): Oh, in about 20 minutes.
This week at the zoo:
Parker: Mommy are the rides open yet?
Mommy (knowing perfectly well they are): I don't know.
Parker: My watch says its 11am so they must be open now.
Mommy: Sigh.

Can I say how reassuring it is that I'm not the only one with a preschooler who's more interested in the rides than the animals?
Seriously. Actually, this last trip was the first time the kids seemed really interested in the animals. The loud monkeys kept their attention for a good long while.
